Here’s another page I never expected to need! But Revenants on the Redway is beginning to pop up in some very interesting places, so I’m starting to collect them all here…

YouTube

This one isn’t from the MK project, but I couldn’t resist sharing it here. I’ve always said I’d never appear on camera… and yet, when I was invited to talk about my research into the uncanny valley for a video on the world’s creepiest animatronics, how could I possibly say no? So, here it is: my YouTube debut on the GroovyGavin channel. Blimey. (My bit starts about 12 minutes in!)

Paranormal Women: An International Women’s Day Celebration, Weird in the Wade Podcast, March 2nd 2026

This one’s really special. I’ve been a fan of Weird in the Wade for a long while now, and it’s been great to get to know Nat over the last year – she’s been so enthusiastic and supportive about my project from the start! I was so honoured when she invited me on to the show for this special International Women’s Day episode – and even more so to find myself alongside such extraordinary women: Bethan Briggs-Miller, Deborah Hyde and Evelyn Hollow. And somehow… me!

Nat invited us to reflect on how women are represented in paranormal media, to share insights from our own work, and to highlight figures from the field of parapsychology and folklore who deserve greater recognition. Between us, we came up with quite a list, but I talked about the wonderful Emma Holohan of Ghost Catcher Isles, and our local folklore expert here in Milton Keynes, Dr Terrie Howey-Moore.

For someone who spends a lot of time thinking about how stories are shaped, shared and remembered, this felt like a very special conversation to be part of. Listening back, I was reminded just why these histories matter so much and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.

If you enjoy listening to this, you can read Nat’s show notes with links to everything we talked about here, and do check out Nat’s Patreon for fascinating bonus content and the chance to support her work directly.

York House, How Haunted? Podcast, February 6th 2026

It was so good to be back on the How Haunted? podcast! Rob’s show often covers detailed explorations of specific locations, and he came up with a great idea – why didn’t I pick one specific site in MK, he would do some research into its history and I’d come back to talk about its hauntings? I pondered for a long time, and eventually chose York House – it’s a place I know well, and it’s often one that comes up when you ask about haunted locations around the city.

I started asking around, collected some stories, and met up with Rob to talk about it back in November. The episode has just gone live, and I’m really excited to share this with you! This was so much fun to do – and I even learned a few things about York House from Rob’s research that I never knew before.

If you’d like to read more about my memories, findings and thoughts about York House, I’ve posted about them here.

The Crow (1994), Review It Yourself Podcast, January 25th 2026

When I got chatting to Sean and Sarah about how much I’d enjoyed one of their episodes, and they invited me on, I thought they’d want to hear about my spooky stories project but nope, it’s a film review podcast so they asked me to pick my favourite to talk about… and as I very rarely watch films more than once, that was a challenge! But The Crow’s a bit special – and I had so much fun recording this!

Fair warning, this is an hour and a half long – and after about ten minutes I kind of forgot that it was going to end up being broadcast so I do go on a bit, and it really was just like chatting to mates down the pub. But it was so good to share why this film’s stayed with me, and of course, to get into all the gruesome details.
Enjoy 😀

Is the North or South of England More Haunted?, How Haunted? Podcast, January 23rd 2026

I love that Rob’s posed this controversial question – and I’ve got to be honest, I’d never really thought about the idea of a paranormal north-south divide, but it’s certainly one that got me thinking… and researching, because I’m still a data person at heart! It was fascinating to listen to everyone’s different approaches to this – but I’m not going to give away Rob’s final answer, you’ll have to listen to find out.

When I was chatting to Rob, I mentioned that Dr Paul Lee’s fantastic map and database of haunted locations was one of my data sources, so if you’d like to check that out, you can do so here.

Milton Keynes Water Pump Ghost! Real Hauntings Podcast, January 5th 2026

Until now, I’ve mostly spoken to local audiences, so appearing on a podcast with an international listenership was a new challenge – how do you explain Milton Keynes to people who’ve never heard of it? We covered the background to the project, some standout stories I’ve collected so far, and which case has come closest to genuinely frightening me. I had such a great time recording this – huge thanks to Noah for the invitation!

John’s Terrifying Night in Milton Keynes – New Year’s Evil, How Haunted? Podcast, December 31st 2025

What a perfect way to say goodbye to 2025, eh? It was so good to be invited to join Rob and his brilliant polterguests and listeners to close the year in a properly spooky way. Here’s hoping that How Haunted? keeps going from strength to strength in 2026 – I’m pretty sure it will 😀
For this episode, I chose John’s Story, and his account of the dark figure that grabbed him in his bedroom, and the eerie echoes that followed. Enjoy!

Living with the Unseen: A Milton Keynes Home Haunting – Christmas Special, How Haunted? Podcast, December 19th 2025

It was an absolute delight to be invited to take part in Rob’s wonderful Christmas special episode! I really like how he’s woven together true stories that his listeners have sent in, along with some really brilliant guest spots. I found his introduction about why we feel the need to tell these stories, especially at this darkest time of the year, particularly thought-provoking. Do have a listen – there’s loads to enjoy there.
My bit starts about 40 minutes in, and I’ve shared one of my favourite recent stories from the Redways – Amara’s account of her years living in a very haunted house near Shenley Wood, and the dark presence that still walks there today. It always means so much that people trust me with their stories, and now I’m getting to share them with a wider audience too – what an honour.

City of Secrets for Halloween: Interview with Michael Blades, MKFM, 30th October 2025

MKFM has been an awesome support to this project for a while now, and I’d been looking forward to this Halloween interview since we booked it back in August! It was great to talk to Michael about the project, and to encourage local listeners to get in touch with their stories. I’m still getting used to seeing myself described as a horror writer 🙂

Haunted Milton Keynes – Bonus Episode: Interview with Rob Kirkup, How Haunted? Podcast, October 1st 2025

What an absolute honour this was! Rob’s highly-acclaimed podcast is brilliant, and I love his in-depth explorations of haunted places all over the world – he genuinely does go into expert levels of detail to answer that all-important question of just how haunted a place can be. It was a real delight to spend some time with him looking at the case for Milton Keynes – and as we concluded, it’s much more haunted than you might expect!

A Firepit Fable: Interview with Owen Staton, Time Between Times Podcast, 26th September 2025

Sometimes, I just have to sit back and wonder at how very surreal and cool my life is right now. I’ve been a huge admirer of Owen’s work for a while now, so to get to be a guest on his brilliant podcast was something really special, and just a great experience.

It was a delight to talk about my project, and what an honour to hear one of my favourite City of Secrets stories told in such a compelling way – I know this one back to front, but I love how Owen’s brought it to life in a completely new way.

Do give this one a listen – and if you can, linger at the firepit a little longer to check out the fantastic catalogue of stories that are shared there. You’re in for a treat.

City of Secrets on Paratalk Podcast, August 16th 2025

I was delighted to be invited onto Reeves’ excellent Paratalk Podcast – we covered a lot of ground about my research, the stories behind the places, and how the city itself may hold more mysteries than most people realise.

Press Coverage

Steph Lay Reveals Haunted Milton Keynes’ Hidden Ghost Stories, Spooky Isles, September 12th 2025

This was a really fun interview to do – David’s article about me and my project to collect all the strange and unexplained things across the city is great, do check it out. (And I’m not even cringing at the photos of me with the Concrete Cows – it was a hoot using them to display my flyers!)

Ghosts in Milton Keynes: Paranormal Tales from the City of Roundabouts, Spooky Isles, September 3rd 2025

Spooky Isles is one of my favourite paranormal sites – I’ve often used it to check out haunted places when I’m on holiday. It was great working with David to put this article together, and to talk about the background to the project, progress so far and what I’m still hoping to find.

That’s the spirit! Writer in call for MK ghost stories, MKFM, September 1st 2025

It was great to chat to Tom about my project, and so good to read this piece that he’s shared – so far, three people have been in touch after this went live, but I know there are still more stories out there, and I can’t wait to hear them 🙂

You can read the full article online here.
